Create a hyperlink to a page outside your website

Microsoft Word users please click here.

  1. Type the text you wish to link.

  2. Select and highlight the text.

  1. Click the Hyperlink button on the toolbar.

  2. Select the External Link tab.

  3. Enter the website’s URL.

  4. Checkmark Open In New Window.

Note: Opening the link to a new window, when clicked by a user, will open a new browser window. This method is recommended for linking to outside (external) websites to make sure your user doesn't get lost, leave your website and forget to come back. Once the user has finished looking at the outside website, they will probably close their browser. Then, they can return to your website because it was open in a separate browser to begin with.

  1. Click OK.
