online backup not working

Kelvin,

I have tried this setup but it is not working. When I open EWB on another computer after making a change on a test site I have, the online backup. It just opens the website that is local. Is there something broken or am I not setting this up correctly?

Does the designer have to be on using a different web hosting server? It doesn't seem to work on more than one computer.

I have a customer who has a master and a designer. I would like to set them up so they can use this function.

The web master settings

Mode Master

I have created new 2 websites and used these 2 settings.
Both worked.
Sorry I need to tell you that you need close the software and restart it (only Ewisoft Website Builder). The software will only download backup at the beginning.

Yes, you can put the master and designer in the same server, or even in the same folder like this.

Worked for me. But I found you need to setup publish information also.
Then restart the software.

I know you and I have been working on the ewisoft website without any problem so I'm hitting my head trying to figure this out. There must be something I am missing. I'll try more settings later.

This requirement does not make sense because if you are "designer", you might not have ftp information to use. Meaning, the designer may not have their own web hosting but needs to work on the same website.

The reason is that we try to download the files in the same 'publish' folder, so that when the users publish, they can avoid publishing the downloaded files again. I found sometimes the FTP uploading is much slower than the HTTP download.
This may be useful for some websites with a lot of pictures. And it works in master mode only.

You are right. I can remove this requirements for the design mode at least.
Do you think it is useful for the master mode? Maybe I simply remove this function?

I think to leave FTP setup as a requirement for the Master because only the master should be able to publish but there may be multiple designers not have access to web hosting and should not need to if they are doing work for the webmaster.

I love this function. It is a very powerful feature. Just needs a little fine tuning

I'm waiting to hear back from my customer to see if they got it working because still for some reason I cannot set it up on test here. I'll keep you posted.
