To keep on the cutting edge and provide more powerful functions we release updates to our software periodically. It is always a recommendation to save a copy of your website project first by going to the File menu > Export Backup in Ewisoft Website Builder.

What's New

Version 6

August 2011 - W3C validation is built-in. You can be confident that when you are building your website that your pages will be W3C compliant. Even though it has not been proven to directly help your SEO ranking, if your website has less errors, then search engines can read your pages more easily and more accurately. As a result, you can increase your SEO ranking by having better quality built pages.

In the SITE menu > select Optimization Setup. You can see the options there.

July 2011 - Improved templates, more customization and style settings. Ability to insert additional currencies into eCommerce.

Template enhancements:

• header merge - the ability to change the header styles, only show logo, only show web title, or only show the editable area, making it possible to have complete control over the header of the template.
• resize logo - the ability to make changes to the logo.
• tablewidth - the ability to make the template wider or less wide.
• nav1align, nav1background, nav2align, nav2background - the ability to move the navigation menus to the left, center or right side.

Note for premium template owners
If you have purchased any premium templates and would like to have the latest version of it, please download it from the Library http://www.ewisoft.com/a/library/website-templates.htm

Please be aware that if you choose to download the latest version of your template to write down any template style settings you had previously changed because when you add the new template into your website, it will prompt you to overwrite the template. Only the template style settings will be overwritten. No changes will be made to your pages, images, text or contents. If you are unsure about this, please make a backup of your website first (FILE > Export backup). We always recommend you make a backup of your website.

Download the template to your computer. Run Ewisoft, go to TEMPLATES menu > select Add Template > browse to where you saved the template and select Yes to overwrite template.

January 2011 - Support multiple shopping carts and choose a different shopping cart for each ecommerce web page in your website. Improved "Publish to Folder" function to give the option of publishing all files or only changed files. Improved "Download website" function.

September 2010 - Additional country currencies for eCommerce, ability to download an online backup if you have forgotten the download URL.

March 2010 - Sell downloadable products. Sell photos, ebooks or any downloadable files online and show the customer the download link automatically. A customizable email with a download link will also be sent to the customer's email address.  Have a "Self-service" page where customers can get their products by email anytime without needing any assistance by you. Limit the download link with an expiration time and maximum download attemps. The download files are safe and secure. No coding needed.

January 2007 - Create a copy or duplicate template so that you can have different content in the editable areas on different pages. Apply a template on a per page basis. Enhanced publish troubleshooting ftp support. Improved premium website templates contain multiple styles of the template and more editable areas. Fixed insert image bug when images don't get published to the Internet but appear fine on your computer.

Template Maker update: added a function to package multiple templates together. Included with the Tempate Maker program is now a template packing program. Once you create your templates ".ewt", you can package them together into a ".ews" file.

October 2006 - Fixed some stylesheet issues as well as some online sharing/backup and publishing issues.

July 2006 - Added more language character sets capability. Added "keywords" and "description" support for each page. Added "Empty Recycle Bin" function. Added right click to choose default editor, Microsoft Word/Internal Editor. Improved user interface for one click edit ability.  Added ability to designate a different editor for each page in a website. Improved speed of publishing pages.

May 2006 - Users can use not only use the internal html editor but also Microsoft Word or other external editor to edit page contents. Users can edit more predefined editable areas in templates. Enable users to edit more styles in css file. Support multiple css file for multi-media types. When users add a new web page, the file name will be similar with page name instead of p33.htm. When publishing, the same file will be published only once. Added more templates when creating a new website. Template orders when choosing template. Find web folder in publish settings automatically when testing the FTP connection. Back up the whole project (copy to a backup folder) when update project. For the first time user, it prompt “This application works with Microsoft Word. Do you want to use Microsoft Word to edit web page contents?”. Suggest users to use online sharing to backup before publishing.

November 2005 - Added "online sharing wizard" to enable users to share their project more easily online. Added "Server Setup" dialog.

October 2005 -  Added "download new templates" feature in Templates > Select Templates dialog. Added new help file.

September 2005 -  Added "clear history" to popup menu of publish button in the toolbar; Added online backup feature.  Displayed FTP uploading speed when publishing.  Added a wizard to create a new website.

July 2005 - Support for multiple website projects. Every website project is put in it's own folder. Added *.ewp (Ewisoft Website Project) file. Added automatic version checking. Improved FTP speed.

June 2005 - Replaced the hyperlinks in the free users' websites to Ewisoft Co. with the hyperlink to ads.

April 2005 - Improved FTP functions in Ewisoft Website Builder. Support for advanced FTP technical details such as thread numbers, time out, retry times, passive mode, etc. Display detailed information when publishing.

February 2005 - Organized toolbars. Add 'Getting Started' in Help file. Change Publish dialog.

August 2004 - Added paragraph types (normal, heading1 - 6). Added font styles of different paragraph types. Added Meta tags in Website Setup. Enabled thumbnail pictures and picture modification.

July 2004 - Added to direct new users. Remove Alt in img tag. Change Copyright format to support multi-languages. Added feature to save automatically on exit.

June 2004 - Enabled hyperlink to be open in new window. Enabled different default folders for different files types. Added the function to change logo in templates. Added the donation system. Added background sound feature. Added more encoding. Changed *.bck to *.ewb, *.tpl to *.ewt. Added delete template function. Increased the length limit of hyperlink input. Clear wanted images and templates during publish.

May 2004 - Support hyperlink in navigation menu of My Website. Support the change of background color in Edit View. Display the current web title in the title of application. When saving website content to a backup file, added option to save publish setup and template. Before loading website content from a backup file, prompt a dialog for saving if changes have been changed to current website. Make 'Save Web' and 'Save Web As' different.

April 2004 - Ewisoft Website Builder 2.1.4.26 and patch released. Added support for 'Publish to Folder' function.
